Digital Embossing

Digital Embossing is the new sensation. This fantastic innovation makes print positively three dimensional. From today ‘ordinary printing will simply leave you feeling rather flat. Digital Embossing will make your message infinitely more compelling. It will make your printing no longer just a visual but also a sensual experience.

Digital Embossing can be used to enhance the majority of coated papers and cards and to all laminated products. It is most effective when applied to thicker materials. The process is post press which means it can be equally effective on Litho and Digital Printed work.

Whilst Digital Embossing is applicable to either gloss or matt lamination it is most effective over matt, where the contrast between the laminate and the emboss is striking.

Please note: we always strongly recommend running a trial sheet prior to having a large volume of Digital Embossing

Digital Embossing is an environmentally friendly embellishment. It produces no harmful waste products or dangerous Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and uses small amounts of power in production.

The preparation for Digital Embossing could not be easier. We just need an additional Black Separation with image in all the areas you would like to have Digital Embossing. Because of the exceptional accuracy of the process (each sheet is registered optically before printing) the most complex shapes can be embossed. It is even possible to include half tones in your design (Tints of Black) which will make the Embossing taper on the finished page. If you would like us to prepare your black separation, or have a particularly complex embossing project which you simply do not have time to prepare yourself, then we would be pleased to help.

Because the process is Digital, there is no lower limit on quantity. We are happy to emboss just one sheet if required.

Digital Embossing can be specified in two depths:
Low Lift and High Lift, depending on the effect you require.

Low Lift
With Low Lift Emboss the effect is somewhat similar (though there is still much more texture) to the very highest high lift UV varnish. Plus, of course, there are the overwhelming advantages of a pin point accurate register, ability to emboss complex shapes and an environmentally friendly process.

High Lift
With High Lift Emboss the real creative advantages of Embossing come to the fore. The effectiveness of the embellishment is immediately apparent. The normal reaction is instant approval, no questions, simply ‘to see it is to love it’.

Calculating the cost of Digital embossing is quick and easy. The only things required are:

  • The size of your product
  • The quantity
  • The type of emboss (Low or High lift)
  • The total area to be embossed – click here to calculate your total area percentage.
